Download Theme Song World Cup 2010 ARTISTS, filmmakers and musicians in Gauteng have been invited to create new works or products that can be showcased and sold during the World Cup, through its Gauteng 2010 Gateway art design and merchandise contest.

Under the theme "Creativity starts here," the Made in Gauteng inaugural design and merchandise competition was launched at the Craft and Design Centre in Sandton on Thursday, 18 March.

Download Theme Song Fifa World Cup 2010 Gauteng 2010 Gateway is an initiative of the Gauteng provincial government to position Gauteng as the gateway to South Africa and Africa during the FIFA World Cup South Africa™.

Speaking at the launch of the competition, the Gauteng Film Commission's senior marketing manager, Jacques Stolz, said the competition was an opportunity for Gauteng-based filmmakers, musicians, crafters and designers to create distinctive products that represented the region's culture, lifestyle and heritage in contemporary, cutting-edge and innovative ways.

"This competition is intended to support our provincial brand campaign which aims to showcase our people, history and contemporary landscape within the context of the world's most anticipated sporting event," Stolz explained.

"We want to provoke a pioneering creative spirit of Gauteng and at the same time expose latent design talent in our city region ... Whatever it is about Gauteng that inspires you, we want you to use it to transform something ordinary into something extraordinary."

The chief executive officer of the Gauteng Economic Development Agency, Blake Mosley-Lefatola, said creativity was an important catalyst in shifting the economy from a primary based to a value-added creative economy.
